What the work involves.
A clogged gutter is worse than no gutter. Water that cannot drain spills over the front edge, soaks the fascia board, runs behind the gutter and down the wall, and lands along the foundation in exactly the place the gutter was installed to protect. Standing water also adds weight that pulls the gutter away from the house.

They cut down how often gutters need cleaning, and they keep downspouts from clogging where a single wad of leaves can stop an entire run. No screen makes a gutter maintenance-free. Fine debris and pollen still collect, and a screen under an overhanging oak still needs brushing off now and then.
Screens are worth it most on houses with trees close to the roofline, on two story homes where cleaning means a tall ladder, and on gutters that already overflow in heavy rain. If your gutters are dented or separating at the seams, replacing those sections first makes more sense than screening a damaged system.

How often should gutters be cleaned in North Texas?

Do gutter screens stop all clogs?
They stop leaves and most debris. Fine grit and pollen still collect and screens under heavy tree cover need an occasional brush, but clogs become much less frequent.
Can screens go on my existing gutters?
Usually yes, as long as the gutters are sound. Dented or separating sections are better replaced before screens go on.
